The
Quincy 3hp Engine
The Kit
The Quincy model is aprox 1/3 scale,
and is an engine with several interesting features. The
bore/stroke is 1.5"/2.2", the flywheels
are of heavy cross section, 9" dia. The Quincy is a horizontal
hit-miss governed, igniter fired engine with a speed
control plus it has a spark retard/advance
control. Cooling is liquid, using a water jacket, liner and coolant
pump.
Originally, the Quincy 3 hp engine
was measued, scaled, and a casting kit was developed in the 1980's.
Some engines were built, and can be seen pictured in the archives
of past model shows. This kit originally included the major castings,
but was mostly built from bar stock and the included prints. Lone
Star Engine Works has completely re-designed this kit, giving
the builder a much richer set of detailed castings to work with.
There are now 24 iron and bronze castings, timing gears, pump
parts, seralized nameplate, and an AutoCad prints book included
in the kit.
